Meryl reflects on "context" for an audience member. How much should the music stand on it's own? Do you need to know the composer's bio, what they were writing about, what they were trying to achieve, what was going on in their life and history at the time? Does it help to see the composer to connect with them? Or can I just listen?

We've spent the last 3 years promoting new music concerts, which definitely feels like the toughest bit of what we do although it always seems to have worked out ok (or better!) in the end. We haven't got it all worked out but this is what we've learnt so far
